There are seven categories, each looking at performance over the past 12 months- Most Innovative Company, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year (small, medium and large business categories), Exporter of the Year, and The Aer Lingus Viscount Award for Overall Excellence.
Entry criteria for each category can be found below:
The Most Innovative Company Award honours the company that has continually driven growth through product and/or process innovation in 2012 and recognises overall achievement in product and/or marketing, sales, manufacturing, management etc
This Award will be given to an entrepreneur who has demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses. Award nominations can be for an individual running his or her own business or occupying a senior role within a larger corporate organisation.
The Company of the Year Award recognises the most entrepreneurial small, medium and large company that has excelled in all functions of their business. The winners of these awards will have shown significant commitment to producing and marketing a product or service that proves to be both successful and to have contributed to the NI/GB commercial relationship.
We consider a small company to have less than 50 employees, a medium company to have between 50 – 250 employees and a large company to have more than 250 employees.

The Exporter of the Year award is given to the company that is judged to have made the best use of innovation, improving processes and/or products/services whilst entering new markets. The winner will be a company who has excelled in their field and made significant contributions to the Northern Ireland economy.
The Aer Lingus Award for Overall Excellence will reward the company who best demonstrates a positive impact on the Northern Ireland economy and a strong collaboration between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
